Fifth graders have been investigating the early history of the United States, and the foundational documents that continue to shape our government today. We learned why the American colonists chose to separate from Britain, and translated the Declaration of Independence into modern English. Now, we're deep into the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Students aim to find out: how do the laws, systems, and rights in our country affect our lives and the issues we care about?
We're also studying another type of system: ecosystems! Students have learned all about producers, consumers, and decomposers, and how these food webs interact with nonliving things in their habitats.
In January, the Grades 4 and 5 SEI classes had their family breakfast. Students read their narrative writing and answered questions and comments. The food came from around the world with dishes from Ethiopia, Qatar and Japan. It was a wonderful morning and we are so proud of the students and families for their work to make it a success.
