Ann Bolger (1939-2001) was, for 27 years, the Parent Coordinator
at the Graham and Parks Alternative Public School. The parent liaison
positions that are now a universal feature of Cambridge schools are
based on the job she created, and her work is nationally recognized as a
model for family involvement in schools. She did much to make Graham
& Parks what it is. Our library was named in her honor because she
was a tireless promoter of reading, when children are presented with so
many other ways to spend their time. She was the force behind an
innovative book bag program, in which each child from grades K-2 was
sent home with a different canvas bag of paperback books every other
week throughout the year.
