CitySprouts Garden

citysprouts gardenThe Graham & Parks courtyard garden was designed by a small committee of G&P teachers, parents and CitySprouts staff in 2007 and constructed in 2008. Using Versa-lok manufactured stone blocks that complement the materials of the school, raised garden beds were built around the edges of the courtyard. Materials and labor were generously donated by Bob Purdy Construction. The lovely courtyard has both sun and shade, and picnic benches where students and staff can sit. The garden has a shed and two composters.

citysprouts gardenCitySprouts is a school garden program founded on the belief that all children should have the chance to explore science through hands-on, real-world experiences from an early age. By observing, experimenting, and discovering in the garden, students build a strong foundation in science learning and curiosity about the natural world.

A CitySprouts Garden Educator visits the Graham & Parks School every other week throughout the year. Garden Educators partner with the classroom teacher to engage students in investigations and projects.

CitySprouts also offers volunteer opportunities in the garden year-round. If you’d like to get involved, please email [email protected].
