Family Engagement – What Really Counts

Family engagement takes many forms. The most important ones may be those that take place at home and in your communications with school staff.

At home it’s often simple yet powerful things: reading to your child (in your home language) to develop language skills, providing the time and space to focus on doing a good job on homework, teaching the habit of timeliness by getting to school on time, and generally setting good examples for our children to follow. The list goes on.

Good, open communication with staff is critical because it’s how we move to the next step when we encounter a bump in the academic or social-emotional road we travel during a child’s academic career.

If you have time and energy after these foundations are in place, there are many ways, great and small, and everything in-between, which enrich our school and directly or indirectly support student achievement. Enjoy exploring the following links, and please let me know if I can be of support or assistance.
