jared lindhWhat do you teach?

I teach 3rd grade students from all over the world.

How long have you been at G&P?

I have been at G&P since October 19 of this year.

Where are you from?

I am from East Hampton, Connecticut. It is a small town in the woods of central Connecticut. It is near the Connecticut River, was once one of the world's largest manufacturers of bells, and is home to Connecticut's largest naturally occurring lake.

Teaching motto or favorite education quote?

The four laws of learning are explanation, demonstration, imitation, and repetition. The goal is to create a correct habit that can be produced instinctively under great pressure. To make sure this goal was achieved, I created eight laws of learning – namely: (1) explanation (2) demonstration (3) imitation (4) repetition (5) repetition (6) repetition (7) repetition (8) repetition.
–Legendary college basketball coach John Wooden.

I appreciate the wry humor and the implied emphasis on dedication. It makes me smile (sometimes!) during times of learning-frustration.

What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?

If I could do something else besides teach, I would love to be a copy editor for a small weekly newspaper. I love to read, and I love to write and revise.

Who was your favorite teacher? Why?

My favorite teacher is my mom – she was my original teacher and setter of high expectations – and she actually is a teacher (retiring this year after 35+ years!).
