Election Day Bake Sale a Landslide!
Dear Wonderful Volunteers, Amazing Bakers
& Generous Shoppers:

With your help, we pulled it off! During a quiet election year we had a vibrant and delicious bake sale and raised $1114 for the 5th Grade overnight trip to Thompson Island. On behalf of Kelly Dolan, Mary-Ann Matyas, Nadia Azim and Sharon Mombru, I want to thank you all so much for your important contribution to this success. When Mary-Ann and I set up at 6:30am, we had some good food to sell but it was still slim pickings. At 8am kids and parents streamed in with incredible treats. We felt elated because we knew then that with this amazing support from the G&P community this bake sale would be a success.

All day long we had comments about how great the selection was and how much improved our sale was. After sampling the Butternut Squash Chili one of the police officers said, "man I am going to work this poll every election." We have many repeat customers and one even joked that the only reason she came to vote was to come to our bake sale. It is very touching how the neighborhood supports our endeavors--some people came over purely to donate money because they want to support our school (of our total, $196.80 was from donations).

It was easy to sell treats to people knowing how delicious everything was that they were going to get. Special thanks to the parents outside the 5th grade who stepped up to support us...you were the icing on the cake and we hope it becomes a long G&P tradition that we all support each other in this way. To our volunteer salespeople--Suki, Silke, Tunc, Violet, Nora and Anna--thank you for bringing your energy and impressive sales skills to our efforts. It was great to spend the day with you all.

Thank you all so much,
Liza Tague (on behalf of all the organizers: Kelly Dolan, Mary-Ann Matyas, Nadia Azim and Sharon Mombru)

G&P Family Folk Dance Thank You!
A big thank you to all who came to dance, carouse and share desserts at the 3rd annual G&P Family Folk Dance, November 6th. It was a blast! Special thanks go to the team of volunteers who got the event off the ground and made everything run smoothly: Iis Drummond, Nora Grodzins, Mary Ann Matyas, Theo Woodward (G&P alumnus), Anna Henchman, Kris Dickson, Ena Valenzuela, Liza Tague, Trevor Dickie, and Sarah Smith. Emily Troll and her pals made the dance both fresh and traditional with their musicianship and expert footwork! Thanks to Friends of G&P for providing the funds to bring Marcie Van Cleave from the Folk Arts Center of New England to our school again this year. Check out its website (facone.org) to find other nearby dance events that your family can attend.
