Teacher Spotlight: Jocelyn Marshall

JocelynWhat stereotype about teachers is true?
“Teachers talk too much.” We spend our days reminding students to quiet down and focus on their work, while we have free reign to talk and talk and talk. If you have ever tried to present to a group of teachers, it’s tough, because we are used to being the ones presenting and we always have something to add or a question to ask. You might even catch us talking to our friends when we are supposed to be listening (but don’t tell our students).

What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?
If I could try out another profession, it would be that of an interior decorator. Now that my floors are strewn with my children’s toys and my walls splattered with their applesauce, I look back fondly on the days when I could wander the home goods section of a Target or get lost in the aisles of IKEA. Even today, nothing makes me happier than buying a new quilt for my bedroom or the perfect rug for hiding dirt in my living room.

What do you love about G&P?
Over the 10 years that I have been at G&P our school has gone through many changes, but I have always been amazed by the passion teachers feel for their work, the enthusiasm students have for learning, and the commitment families make to our community.
