Before school, students may come with parents or get a library
pass in the cafeteria to borrow books or use the computers from 8 -
8:15AM. After school, families may come in until 2:45PM most days,
provided the librarian is in the library. Computers in the library may
be used throughout the day by supervised students (or those who have
their teachers’ permission,) as well as teachers. Please refrain from
printing personal materials. The library seating area may be used by
whole classes or by individuals. Please check with Ann to schedule use
of the library space during the day.
JK-3: Students
in these grades have a weekly library class. Class time includes
read-alouds and library lessons and skills taught through games and
projects. Children have approximately 10-15 minutes at the end of each
library class to browse and borrow books.
4-5: Some
students in these grades have scheduled weekly classes; others come as
needed for book borrowing. Through collaboration with classroom teachers
throughout the year, students will learn and use 21st century skills
through research and other projects. 4th and 5th grade students may
participate in the Massachusetts Children’s Book Awards program. Chat
& Chew book discussions are held in the library to discuss MCBA
books throughout the fall and winter.
All students are welcome in the library for book borrowing throughout
the day, provided they have permission from their classroom teacher, as
long as they do not interrupt library classes.
