What do you do at G&P?
I am a literacy interventionist. That means I get to teach about reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

How long have you been at G&P?
This is my first year working at G&P.

Where are you from?
I am from San Francisco, California which is on the west coast of the United States.

What stereotype about teachers is true?
We love free stuff, from pens to tote bags to half-eaten muffins left in the staff lounge.

Describe your all-time favorite lesson/unit activity.
When I taught kindergarten, we changed our instruction every year based on what our students were interested in. One spring, they were hungry all the time! So we studied where the food they liked to eat comes from. Each week, we cooked one of our students family's favorite dishes together. We visited a working farm where we saw newborn piglets, and we grew edible plants in our urban garden. We chose a few recipes we really liked, made a budget, fundraised for money, went shopping for ingredients at the downtown farmer's market, and then created a delicious feast! We co-wrote and performed a play about garden animals and insects. We learned a lot about math, science, social studies, reading, writing, and each other…and we ate a lot!

What do you love about G&P?
The best thing about G&P is the students. I have the best time working with them!
