NEW HIRES

We have three new teachers joining us in the near future.

Alison Hoeman has joined us as our new 2/3 Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Teacher in our new classroom.  She has extensive experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) overseas in a number of different settings. Alison taught a great demo lesson, and we're very pleased she's  joining the team.

Karima Cherguaoui will be our new full-time ESL Teacher. She comes to us with experience as a long-term SEI substitute in Malden.

Courtney Figueroa has been hired to replace Lindsey Blackburn (who will be missed!). She's currently teaching a self-contained behavior class in Medford. Courtney's start date is set for 12/1.

All three teachers come highly recommend from their previous schools.

FRIENDS OF GRAHAM & PARKS UPDATE

Thanks once again to all who donated items and to those who worked tirelessly at our October rummage sale. We grossed $1,400 and counting as some larger items are being placed on Craigslist.

A HUGE thank you to all the families who supported the Election Day bake sale by baking, selling or buying. With the strong election turnout and the great food spread, the 4th grade was able to make $1,340 for their 5th grade overnight trip.

Friends will be selling G&P t-shirts in new colors for kids in time for the holidays. Look for us in the front hall. Also, the 5th grade is selling G&P car magnets for $5--if you want any of these great stocking stuffers please contact Stefanie Dhanda at sdhanda@comcast.net.

Look for our new Friends bulletin board in the front hall in December to see upcoming community events and volunteer opportunities.

Finally, you will be receiving our letter for the annual appeal. Our aim is to make sure that we raise enough money to be able to give every teacher $20 per student in their class with some leftovers for teacher grant requests for special projects, materials or field trips. Please consider a donation, no matter how small. If everyone participates, every G&P student wins.
