annWhat do you teach?

I am the school librarian – or library media specialist (my official job description).

How long have you been at G&P?

This is my 9th year.

Where are you from?

Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Montana (we moved several times when I was a kid.)

Teaching motto or favorite education quote?

Laugh every day and appreciate the fact that when you work with kids, you’re never bored.

Describe your all-time favorite lesson/unit activity.

It’s hard to pick just one. I love doing the “Poe-Tree” project with 1st and 2nd graders because I love seeing all their beautiful poems in the lobby. I love doing book trailers with 4th graders, because their passion for their chosen books and their creativity making the videos is so inspiring. And I love our school-wide Read Across America celebration, because what’s not to love about spending the day in your jammies, reading?!

Who was your favorite teacher? Why?

My 9th grade English teacher, Mary MacLeod, “Mz. Mac,” because she respected me as an individual, nurtured my creativity, and encouraged me to keep reading and writing.
