The Garden Committee at G&P sees our garden as a little piece of the natural world tucked in among the brick walls – a hidden gem! We feel that exposure to this world is vital to a child's education. For our school community, working to grow healthy plants – including food – teaches us lots of interesting and essential lessons, and brings a sense of reward along with some messy fun. We’re currently focusing our efforts on the courtyard garden in support of the CitySprouts Program, which closely links curricular content areas with garden experiences. Also, during the school year we host a party or two to raise awareness about the garden and invite people out to enjoy it. In general, we work to show that we can approach our natural spaces with care and respect, so that our gardens are ready to host a class, or a few friends, or a someone looking for sunlight, fresh air, and a little natural beauty.

Reduce School Waste/Compost Committee
The committee monitors the school lunch composting program and thinks of other ways to reduce waste at school.
